Simply design a LEGO compatible 3D frame for PiStorms
Why use 3D Printing?
Custom pieces for some areas of your robot could be the best strategy to solve some physical problems on your robotics project. This challenge tries to invite you in the innovation process to hack the base design from the PiStorms case. 3D printing also enables you to think differently, beyond the parts that are readily available to you and innovate new parts.
Is it possible to have another approach for this case? Do you have other ideas to put your Raspberry Pi board with PiStorms?
This is your opportunity to increase your 3D Modelling skills and get a PiStorms unit.
Participate in the challenge is very easy, fork the Github repository: https://github.com/mindstormschallenges/challenge1
The starting materials to hack the case are located in the following links:
Using your forked repository, in master branch, create a folder with your github account and paste your cad/ldraw model. Include besides some image with your creation.
All participants has the opportunity to make pull request with this innovation for the case from 15/3/2016 00:00am to 15/5/2016 00:00am. All models will be licensed with MIT licence.
After the challenge period (15/5/2016 00:00am), the expert panel will valorate your creations using the following criterias: Creativity, Ease to combine, Ease to put PiStorms & Battery and finally the ease to put sensors & motors. The winners will be notified in a week after closing the challenge period.
We valorate the creativity of your case creation and the possible applications to build simple and complex robots.
The ease to combine with the construction system is a critical point. Try to follow KISS principle.
The ease to put a Raspberry Pi with the board PiStorms is important. The robot needs to extract the battery in a easy way.
Think in some creative ways to put sensors & motors in a easy way.
The best 3 designers will receive a PiStorms unit to use with case modeled with PiStorms.
mindsensors.com, the main sponsor of this challenge will deliver the unit to your home worldwide.
